Position Overview
City Year is seeking a part-time temporary MarComm Summer Associate who will support our social media and other content development, as part of our national strategy to incorporate AmeriCorps member voice on various platforms, ranging from the blog to Instagram (including stories and Reels) and TikTok. Working 20 hours per week, reporting to MarComm Operation’s Community Engagement Manager and working closely with City Year’s MarComm team, the Summer Associates create and curate a library of blog posts and short videos for Reels and TikTok posts, along with images created on Canva to provide additional corps voice and perspective that could be drawn upon throughout the year.
Job Description
The ideal candidates for this role are recent or soon to be City Year alumni. Ideal candidates should have the experience and desire to create social media content. Positions will have a particular area of focus including video/motion content, image creation and writing captions for posts.

Responsibilities:
  • Social Media content creation focused on Instagram and TikTok platforms, including both still imagery and motion video (you may be featured on camera for video and still imagery).
  • Write post captions for all content created.
  • Work with Operations team to create a production schedule and manage time to produce content based on outlined needs.
  • Adapt existing blog content for social posts on Instagram and TikTok.
  • Leverage Canva and our digital asset management system to create City Year brand compliant images and templates.
  • Research latest social trends to inform content creation.
  • Organize and maintain internal library of media and templates (images and videos).
  • Attend bi-weekly check-ins to assess needs, production schedules and report back on successes and challenges.
  • Opportunities to support longer form content development, like blog writing also available

Qualifications:
  • One previous City Year service term completed.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends/hashtags.
  • Ability to work on a team and collaborate remotely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize requests.
  • Comfortable being on camera and being featured on City Year social media platforms after your summer associate role has ended.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, interests and skills.
  • Commitment to helping a highly successful organization implement engaging social media content that speaks to the experience of AmeriCorps members.
  • Deep understanding of City Year’s mission, the national service movement and the role AmeriCorps members play in these.
  • City Year alumni who have served in the past three years are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation for this role is $15.00 to $19.50 per hour. This role is not benefit eligible.
